Onyx, newly launched in the UK, have unveiled the first in their range - the SIM-free Liscio - and I'm sure I've seen it before. Measuring 9cm in length and 3.5cm wide, the compact handset is being touted as a companion cellphone for those times you don't want to carry a large, feature-packed smartphone (bars, for instance, or when there's the possibility of wrestling taking place); the triband GSM phone has a 1.1-inch OLED display, Bluetooth 1.2 and an MP3 player, but no camera or any of the other features we've come to expect from our most-carried gadget.
Still, at £129.99 ($256) unlocked and without a contract, perhaps you can't expect too much. The Liscio has 128MB of memory (expandable by up to 1GB via microSD card) and an FM radio, and is quoted as managing up to 3hrs talktime, 11hrs music playback or 200hrs standby.
It's available today from
their website, and if anyone can remind me where I've seen the handset before you'll win my respect and admiration.
